Find the right Chamonix ski-area map

Start with the valley overview, then open the piste map for the mountain you intend to ski. Chamonix is not one continuous ski station. The tourist office’s directory links both a winter valley download and the interactive ski-area map.

Official resources checked on 22 October 2026. A valley location map and an operational piste diagram are different tools.

Which mountain are you looking at?

Brévent–Flégère: investigate this linked pair from the Chamonix and Les Praz side of the valley. Grands Montets: use its own mountain information for a day based around Argentière. Balme: identify whether you will enter from Le Tour or Vallorcine. Les Houches–Saint-Gervais: is a separate area again.

The official directory also includes the smaller learning areas. Do not assume that a pass covering several mountains means you can ski continuously between all of them.

Where should a beginner start?

Use the named learner-area map or listing that matches the lesson. Savoy and Les Planards are town options; La Vormaine is at Le Tour, with other facilities elsewhere in the valley. The tourist office’s beginner guide is a better starting point than a diagram dominated by high-mountain terrain.

Once the course is chosen, plot the actual journey from accommodation to its meeting point. A nearby gondola may serve a different mountain from the lesson, and a village name on a map can cover a larger area than expected. Our full Chamonix guide compares the settlements and learner facilities.

How do you travel between the ski areas?

Use the valley transport network, not an imagined piste connection. The official public-transport page links bus and train information. Identify both the arrival stop and the return service before choosing a second area for the day.

Check the ticket conditions as well as the timetable. A guest card, lift pass and ordinary bus ticket are different documents; our resort guide explains the distinction rather than treating every valley journey as free.

Which source tells you what is open?

Use the live operating report for today’s facilities and the published plans for the relevant season. A saved map may show infrastructure that is closed or being replaced. The map is an orientation aid, not evidence that a lift is currently operating.

What is the map on this page for?

SlopeFinder’s geographic view helps locate the town and nearby community-listed services. It does not show every piste, establish avalanche safety or replace official signs. Use it to research the village, then move to the operator’s current ski map for mountain planning.
